Programme

Details of our Programme are shown below.

Our meeting location is The Elsie Fischer Room, St Lawrence Centre, St. Lawrence Church, 2 Bridle Road, Eastcote, Pinner HA5 2SJ.

Our booking runs from 8pm to 10pm. Please arrive promptly for 8pm start and be prepared to leave the premises by 10pm. The church has some parking spaces and you can also park in the road outside. The car park has a one-way access system - please respect this. Enter on the left as you look at the car park.

January 2012

Friday 13th January Film Evening: "Freedom Radio" This is a 1941 feature film directed by Anthony Asquith and filmed at Shepperton. Set just before the outbreak of the second World War, this drama tells the story of a doctor in Germany who decides to try to do something to counteract the Nazi propaganda and with the help of an engineer sets up a clandestine broadcasting station. 90mins - please be on time as we will start promptly. Feel free to bring popcorn!

Friday 27th January "Nikola Tesla" A talk by Brian, G3YKB. Some people think that Tesla was the greatest inventor ever and others think he was crazy - so was he a crank or a genius?

Friday 24th February Check Your Transmitter Brian G3YKB and Peter G3YXZ will be on hand with Test Equipment, including Bird Thruline power meter plus suitable /attenuators loads - 1.5 MHz to 500 MHz up to 400 watts; Modulation meter to check FM deviation; Frequency counter - up to 500 MHz; 20 amp 13.5 volt power supply; various patch leads, multi-choice connectors etc. Bring your own power supplies and leads, and adaptors for any unusual connectors.

Friday 9th March Annual General Meeting The AGM will be held as usual to present reports to the Members and to elect a new Committee. Anyone wishing to be nominated to the Committee needs to be a fully paid up member of the Club and to be proposed and seconded by 2 fully paid-up members. Anyone is entitled to be nominated to any of the Committee posts. For more details, please ask Linda or Chris

Friday 23rd March The Emergence of Modern Humans Mark Wheeler, G6DOD, will return to give us another talk based on his specialist topic of archeology. This time, Mark will talk about our origins through genetic and skeletal evidence and how we put a timeline together.
